The Wine Press

img_5378I wanted to approach this from a different perspective. We often shy away from discussions about wine because we fear the extremes that some may go. I never knew how this product was actually created until we visited the pineapple park in Okinawa Japan and got to experience some of the lessons taught by locals. The pineapple park had rows of bens filled with pineapple wine. Some soft and smooth and some stronger. I was always intrigued with how the makers where able to get so many different levels of strength and tastes. As for the wines, yes we drink it by mistake because we had no idea what was in the bens. So naturally we went in for the kill because those pineapples tasted amazing. We laughed and had an amazing time.

Research

Free Run (Crushed)

I realized that there where two types of wine categories for wine being prepared. Free run and Press run are two methods used to make wine. Studies show that someimg_5372
winery’s only use the free run as it is much easier to create. Free run is simply draining the juice off of the grapes or lifted out or from solids just like a t-bag. During the process grapes are piled up onto one another and during the pressing process whatever comes out it is what is considered to be free juice, This method is simple and does not require pressing. An example of a free run wine is white wine.

Pressed juice

Pressing in winemaking is the process where the juice is extracted from the grapes with the aid of a wine press, by hand, or even by the weight of the grape berries and clusters. (Wikipedia) After the free run juice has been extracted by way of being crushed, the natural breakdowns of the grape cell walls during fermentation and its own weight are loaded in a press. This is the way that press juice process begins. The free run juice is crushed to pull out the juice and the pressed juice goes through a much harsher pressing process that ultimately makes excellent but stronger wines. One example we know o today that are of press juice origin is Red wine. Obviously it has a stronger taste and make up. Pressed Juice has a higher level of potassium and ph levels as well as more tannins or color.

The Process

The amount of damage to the fruit, the level of intensity in the pressing as well as the type of machine all play a huge part in the wines influence, taste, texture, balance and instability. Even how the wine and grapes are moved and how the wine is created plays a big roll in the outcome and use. According to Wikipedia, Winemakers often keep their free-run juice and pressed wine separate (and perhaps even further isolate the wine produced by different pressure levels/stages of pressing) during much of the winemaking process to either bottle separately or later blend portions of each to make a more complete, balanced wine. In practice the volume of many wines are made from 85-90% of free-run juice and 10-15% pressed juice. This means that most of what is made is Free run due to it being a simpler process.

Conversation

Our lives are as mirrors to Gods word. There are three different meanings in scripture for the word winepress. All three definitions lend to the processes and levels of wine making today. This word is found in several scriptures such as Isaiah 63:3, lamentations 1:15 and Judges 7:25. Winepress according to the word comes from a Hebrew word “Yeqeb”which means to excavate, a trough or place where juice drains. The other definition comes from the Hebrew word “purah” which means crushing grapes. The last meaning comes from the Hebrew word “gath” which means a vat for holding grapes and pressing them. We can see the patterns that reveal how grapes are picked, drained, crushed and pressed. Does this represent some of the areas of your life?

Looking Deeper.

What I love most about this study is the fact that the process of making something that is of so much value in the end can be connected to processes we endure in our lives everyday.  Some of us are “Free-run”.  Our free runners process though not as hurtful will still yield the results God intended.  For my free running friends your process just requires you to be drained and crushed so that God will use you the way He sees fit.  Free runners may not have to go through a process that is as vigorous but it is enough to get out what’s needed. Crushing grapes is as simple as bursting the skin and exposing the inner parts to the fermentation.  You will also find that most people will stay in the free run zone. Never truly challenged, stepped on, never truly pressed, set aside or hidden.  As a matter of fact studies show that the free run wines are frequently purchased and used.  Everyone loves free run wines because of the taste, It isn’t tough. But if you consider my favorite type of process and perfector, The Press run, you will find individuals who where separated, isolated, packaged differently from the rest, crushed and stepped on by several people.  How intense was your process? How many stepped on you or even hurt you in some way. When you where in your process was it smooth? Or was it like a bad machine being used to press grapes. This process may hurt, but when God gets finished you will most certainly be of the strong batch.  This takes nothing away from either group but it brings light that we all endure some type of crushing weather it’s pressure  or hurt but God will always have the final word. Where ever you are in your life be encouraged and know that the Steps of a good Man or woman are ordered by the Lord!!!

Retentive

The year 2020 has revealed so much of our hearts as a nation and a world. I know for me there have been some painful things that I have had to personally face, walk through and endure. So many plans in 2020 where made for many of us. Plans like family gatherings, traveling, relocating, and more. These plans where altered when COVID-19 hit us in February of 2020. Trials hit all of us like we haven’t really experienced but only read in History books as children. These trials costed some their jobs, homes, marriages, ministries and even lives. All of the plans made in 2020 have taken a major Detour. This year has definitely illuminated the importance of trusting in the Lord and that His purpose will prevail. Proverbs 19:21 says Many are the plans in a persons heart but it is the Lords purpose that will prevail. Have you ever had a season in your life that wouldn’t workout for you? Everything that you tried to do was interrupted, cancelled or rescheduled? That sounds like the season that we are in currently. James 1:12 says Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. It has definitely taught us to be steadfast and unmoved when it comes to our wavering faith in the system’s we trust. Through this season many of us have been in the grinder of life and for the most part this has definitely been a crushing season. Remember when you where a teen and your parents told you that you couldn’t go outside? Weather it was because it wasn’t safe, they didn’t agree with your choice of friends or that you where on punishment? You would think each night that you cannot wait until you are 18 and that you would be an adult and do as you wish. Well I have great news, welcome to being an adult and welcome to doing what you like and still being told what to do. We have been told to wear masks, stay inside and to socially distance ourselves and for most of us we have opted to do as we wish because “we are grown”. Well friends let me submit this to you. Have you ever told your children they couldn’t do something? Have you ever told your children they couldn’t or must wear something that they did not want? If so be mindful of your response to your leadership and remember you are teaching your children how to respond to you. This is a season where we are being tested on all sides. Let us consider obedience in the midst of opposition. Let us consider 1 Peter 5:6-8 that reads “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”. When I think about this scripture much it applies to this time when dealing with this pandemic and our families and their safety. Let us continue to be obedient to the rules created to keep us safe. Let us continue to pray for our children and loved ones. Let us be unmoved when it applies to wearing a mask , staying socially distant or whatever it is that we don’t want to do for our protection.
This season will not last forever it won’t be long before we will be back to enjoying our time in the great outdoors. This is a season that God is establishing our faith, trust and confidence in Him and not in the things of this world. 1 Peter 5:10 says
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
Through this time God is able to Perfect, establish, strengthen and settle us. Let’s look at the Strongs Concordance a little deeper.
Perfect in the Greek definition means to complete or repair.
Establish means to turn in a certain direction.
To strengthen to confirm with spiritual knowledge and power.
To settle means to lay the foundation or to consolidate. Let us remain Retentive in His promises and in His will throughout adversity. To be Retentive means to hold secure or intact. Let us hold fast to our confidence and faith that the Good work that He started He is well able to complete.

Conclusively

This sounds so amazing. I love the fact that God is able to 1st repair us, gives us directions to turn or go to, endows is with knowledge and power to operate then He settles or lays the foundation after he has dealt with us. Remember what you are currently going through God is strengthening your Character, your spirit and your mind. Trust in the Lords process and let Him work!! Let’s remain steadfast my friends this season, even the parts that hurt most are creating in us a character that can not be tainted or discredited.

Uncommon Obedience

img_6102It’s a tough world out there but God is a faithful and just God. He calls us to a life that follows His lead and it may not look the same for everyone. Some people may not understand your struggle but in the end you are accountable to obeying. I remember in elementary school when my teacher assigned me to feed the fish and collect homework assignments. I was so honored to have this responsibility because I felt as though my teacher counted on me to fulfill this. I wanted to do the best job possible so I arrived to class and fed the fish and collected assignments. Finally one of my closest friends suddenly began to distance herself from me. I don’t know what happened but looking back I can remember being teased because I was always being called on.  I actually got to a point that I did not want to be in this position because I felt that friends where more important and I was willing to sacrifice the very opportunities presented so that I would not find myself alone and that it was more important then obedience.   What is obedience? It submissive to the restraint or command of authority Or amiable, biddable or docile.  And when I think of uncommon it means not ordinarily encountered.  This is the type of obedience God wants.  I just don’t know what that looks like for you This could be you.  Are you struggling with relationships because God has called you to a place uncommon?  God wants you to submit to His will and it may be unique and not look like everyone and this is something only you and God can determine so If you are take courage and don’t try to find commonality when God called you as the creator. You may be called to be a blueprint and You are looking for established community where you should be a trailblazer who creates the community.  Moses was a great example of what that looked like because he had no idea where he was going but only trusted Gods voice in the midst of all the complaints and the distance between him and the children of Israel.  It doesn’t have to be as specific and similar as my story but everyone has a story they have that God calls them to obedience and God calls them to that place of uncommon obedience. This is the place that few will understand because they may not have experienced it. I can’t tell you enough how important it is to follow the path of uncommon obedience that God has for your life. Doing this will require some strength for your wins and losses, some courage, trust, willingness to walk alone, understanding that everyone won’t agree with you and that’s ok, understanding that you don’t need a lot of friends but one maybe two good ones is enough, lastly authenticity.  These ingredients mixed with faith will help you to get where you need to be!! This is important because you are the difference. You are the one that had the courage to stand in the midst of betrayal, rejection and loneliness. You are the medicine that God has prescribed to the particular area He has called you to!! So when God speaks to you and. Calls you to an uncommon obedience follow Him. If you are blessed enough that God sends one person to uplift and keep you encouraged on your journey cherish them and remember Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.img_6103  There are few that will understand your passions but the ones that do will be blessed and encouraged. Remember everyone has a different journey and path to follow so try not to judge people’s walks if they don’t look like yours. We have all been given the measure of faith that we need to execute what we need to execute.  Sure it may get lonely and many won’t walk the same path but if you trust God your steps will usher you to places that those who chose to stay common would only dream of.

Cocoons or Caskets

I love Nature and all that it displays when we watch God’s creation created. I have taken a liking to the process of butterflies and how they fully grow into a creature that has a full set of delicate wings. Butterflies can be difficult to protect as well as catch. During our time in Okinawa, we had the opportunity to visit a place called Butterfly Park. Butterfly Park was a place where all butterflies live and where they grow and entertain visitors. Everywhere we stepped, in certain areas was filled with swarms of butterflies. What I loved most was their ability to be drawn to reds. What I wanted to share in today’s blog was the process of a butterfly and the cocoons. I don’t know what God has in store for your life, but I do believe that the Lord orders the steps of the righteous and He knew you and predestined the season you are currently experiencing.

Background

The Process

There are four stages that a butterfly must go through to become a full-grown butterfly. Eggs, Caterpillar, Pupa, and Adult. These stages are necessary for its full growth and development. Butterflies and moths develop through the process of “Metamorphosis,” which translates in Greek to Transformation or change in Eggs shape. “Each stage has a different goal – for instance, caterpillars need to eat a lot, and adults need to reproduce. Depending on the type of butterfly, the life cycle of a butterfly may take anywhere from one month to a whole year.” (Learn about Nature Article 2018) It is incredible to discover that it can take one year for a butterfly to develop. I know for me that some processes in my own life are complicated because I am so impatient and want to blossom overnight. Eggs

Stage 1: The Eggs

This phase is self-explanatory. As butterflies made eggs and lay them on leaves, this begins the process of growth. If you look closely, you can see the tiny Caterpillar inside of the eggs. Because of the size, it is hard to spot them on the leaves. Also, the shapes of the eggs depend on the type of butterfly it is. It takes between 3-5 days for an egg to hatch into baby caterpillars or larvae, which is its next phase. A butterfly can lay between 100-300 eggs at a time.

Stage 2: The Caterpillar (Larvae)

This phase is probably the most dangerous because, in its immature state, the caterpillars can eat through crops. Joel 2:25 says I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the Caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you. The Hebrew definition of a Caterpillar translates into easily or “Ravage,” which means to damage or have a destructive effect on something. When crops get destroyed, the good of any land can be as well. Caterpillar  In life, I believe that God never intends on His creation to stay in a Caterpillar state. Anything that is in God’s presence must grow and must take the form and progression He intended.

Stage 3:  Pupa (Chrysilis)

The Pupa is the third stage that is created by a caterpillar. This phase is also known as a resting phase. It was so intriguing to find that caterpillars made and wove their cocoon. In these cocoons, caterpillars use bits of woody material held together by silk strands or woven entirely of silk. According to the Encyclopedia, “The Pupa is a resting stage in which the insect becomes an adult. It does not feed or increase in size, and typically it is outwardly inactive and covered by a hard integument.” (Encyclopedia 2019) A cocoon-like a soup of proteins that morph into 33323841-43C7-4BD3-AA93-3ABE8705453Cthe body parts of a butterfly. Looking at the videos below, you can see the process and how this happens. The most important part about the cocoon is that it serves as the butterflies personal gym to strengthen its wings so that when its time to fly, it will be strong enough not to get caught. The video below depicts this wrestle towards the end. You can see how the Caterpillar is fighting within the cocoon it created to cover itself up and stay hidden for the final growth phase to adulthood.

Stage 4: Adulting

The final phase is what this butterfly is meant to be. It is made to reach a full-grown adult and fly away finally. When the butterfly first emerges from the chrysalis, both of the wings are going to be soft and folded against its body. The wings are delicate and folded because the butterfly has to fit its new parts inside of the Pupa. (Butterfly Life 2018). Adult As soon as the butterfly has rested after coming out of the chrysalis, it wAdultill pump blood into the wings to get them working and flapping – then they get to fly. Usually, within a three or four-hour period, the butterfly will master flying and will search for a mate to reproduce. This is the part of life that God looks loves.

Conversation

Have you ever felt as though your life was in a hidden state? What have you experienced that you felt as though you had to hide? I encourage you to consider the butterfly effect. That your life is not your own and you are changing every single day!!. Consider your being born and growing into a Larvae. Looking at this process, we learned that Larvae was a critical stage to experience. This stage is the most destructive because the Caterpillar can destroy crops. Think about the things in your active life that due to not being mature or fully grown, you may have damaged unknowingly. As you matured past this stage, you realized that it was time to grow. 1 Corinthians 13:11 said When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. Consider the process we go through and how some of us fight the natural process of growth and maturation. This doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun; however, it does mean understanding the times you are experiencing. The Larvae phase for anyone is dangerous because when this season is up some individuals have no sustenance because they have eaten all of the crops and now they take what they have eaten and hide in it.

Looking Deeper

Have you ever felt as though you are hidden? Have you ever felt as though something in your life was causing you to disappear or hideout? Let me encourage those of you experiencing this. You may be in the Pupa stage of your walk. This is the season of rest just for you. Even though you may have created this hiding place because you have eaten all of the crops that you should have benefited from, God is giving you a time of rest so that you can finally grow. Sometimes you have to hide to become. Sometimes God wants you to cover yourself so that you aren’t eaten or damaged before you get your wings. Sometimes God doesn’t mean for you to feel so overlooked, but He actually wants to protect you. And dear friends while you are in your cocoon a while keep fighting the envelope because it’s part of Gods design so your wings will be strengthened. Even as people watch with stares and a grin as you wrestle with God’s cocoon remember that you have a purpose and it is not to stay in a Pupa state. Your mission is not even to stay in the cocoon!!! Some people will go into hiding and die there because they never discerned the times have changed and that growth has taken place. Your purpose is to be the winged gift and be free. In closing, don’t allow your cocoon to become your casket.

Even as Our Soul

img_5259Starting my fitness journey you would not believe I was actually into fitness most of my life.  As a teen I ran track, played basketball and soccer.  I even joined the military and would run up to 7 miles at any given day. At the time I was not saved and came to know Christ after joining the military in 1997.  It was during this time that I learned how to cultivate a relationship with God and how to be a Christian. Not once did I consider since my salvation how important my health was. To add to this I met my husband and I had two beautiful children. Still being on this fitness journey I was less consistent because my family, studies and services became more of a priority with teaching bible studies and teaching our children. Slowly but surely my health was on a decline.  Finally in 2011 I took back my fitness journey and was able to focus on my health because we no longer had the responsibility of a church plant and our family dynamic shifted.  This did not take away my love for the gospel but it did reveal that we needed to create margins in our lives that prevent burn out. Burnout is what we experience when we are lacking balance in our lives and more focused on the things that are good or beneficial in excess.  While in Arkansas in 2011 my passion for fitness was fueled.  I started training and doing right with my health and was getting major results!! With my husband working the hours he worked I was able to focus on training.  Now that he has retired we both are on the same journey.  Health is a beneficial and necessary part of our lives just like prayer and family time.  I even started a women’s Lifegroup that focused on health and wellness teaching women about their bodies as well as the word. There was nothing better then to be able to share my passion with others.  Currently I am focusing on getting my own results and hopefully I can reach others in their fitness journey. This is what life is all about though.  I had to realize that I was off balance in my faith and personal life.  I was devoting 70% to my life, faith and service and 30% to where ever I could. Though I was serving and helping I wasn’t making time for the right things like study, worship and health. We often get that mixed up when we think that we can serve and believe it counts as spiritual food.  It’s so important to Make time to study your word and time to get your health in line.  God doesn’t want us lacking or without in any area… the key though is to create a life you don’t need a vacation from. How much margin do you include in your schedule? Do you believe in doing a daily personal devotional each day to feed your spirit man? Wholesome balance is the end goal and it is pleasing to God.  I am not saying drop everything but I am encouraging wisdom. 3 John 1:2 says Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit. As you can see God does not want us to master our spirits but to be healthy as well. Healthy doesn’t necessarily mean a perfect physique. However it does mean whole without infirmity and free from gluttony. Phillipians 4:5 Says let your moderation and gentleness be Know to all men the Lord was at hand. This lets us know that God is calling us to balance in our lives. Don’t forget to take care of your body.  As busy as some of us may be with our jobs, families, ministry and more, we must be confident enough to turn some responsibilities away for our own growth and stability. There are 24 hours in a day and we must make each moment count by prioritizing or responsibilities and sometimes that means saying no. Saying no doesn’t make you a bad person. In the end it makes you a stronger person.  To the ones who are committed to serve and assist don’t forget to create margin and take moments to cultivate a living relationship with God and the Holy Spirit and to enjoy life!!!

“How do I Know?”

img_5156I get this question from many people who are new to the Christian faith. How do I know what to study and where to start? Most times we never get on the journey of illumination because it seems to be unattainable.  As a fitness enthusiast I know first-hand how intimidating some journeys can be.  I used to hesitate with even starting on my journey because I perceived someone else’s journey in their finished state.  I immediately
would disqualify myself because the journey seemed too far to travel.  It is the same with our faith.  Are you looking at a spiritual individual and
automatically feeling as though you are not able to get there?  Are you
looking at Christians that have been studying for years and automatically discounting yourself?  I want to encourage you this morning and tell you that we all start somewhere.  Don’t be afraid of starting off where YOU are. Eventually with consistency and studying you will blossom into who God created you to be.  You may be wondering how to study and what to study and there are so many tools which can be confusing and overwhelming.  I don’t even like to use google because everyone has some extreme interpretation and we can rarely find someone that knows how to “Rightfully divide the word”. It is better to apply the word to your life making sure your life lines up with His word vs the word lines up to you.  Start small and easy, don’t over think things. You don’t have to tackle your studies in a day. You can conquer this thing one scripture at a time without overwhelming yourself too. So here are some things I suggest you consider when beginning to study.  Just like fitness you will need tools to get your journey started:
        1. A King James Bible
        2. A Strong’s Concordance 
        3. A U-Version Bible App (You can listen to scriptures as well)
        4. Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling, Fourth Edition by John
G. Kruis** 
        5. Study notebook
        6. Some tea/ coffee
With these tools you can embark upon the best journey to start your new adventure.  As for what you need to study, you can study people in the Bible (Different stories), you can study Psalm’s & Proverbs like doing 1 Chapter each book per night.  I often tell people start with a Proverbs in the Morning and a Proverb at night.  Lastly and the best choice is to start off where you struggle.  Allow God to lead you in His word by identifying what your struggles are.  There are books that help identify with your issues by listing each issue with scriptures that discuss this.  It can be overwhelming to feel like you have to start off big.  We never have to start as a professional but we should at least start.  Another way to study is by finding a Podcast that speaks to your heart.  Another recommendation I love is a book called, “Man’s Questions, God’s Answer” by Lu Ann Brandsby.  Or the Quick Scripture reference for Counseling listed in the list of suggested materials. Yes to the no’s

img_5110Every season God requires a different Type of obedience to Him.  There are some moments that we can count on the constent demands pulling on us, and then there are others that God simply requires rest in the everyday routines that only require basic functionality. What is your response to resting? Do you have thoughts about resting or do you understand what resting means? In some seasons the only requirement is Our relationship with God and our maintenance to our families. These moments are often tough because we want to live in the “more” with the perspective that the “more” proves that we are in His will. Doing more does not necessarily mean we are effective. It is important to embrace our seasons of rest because when it’s time to work again we would have taxed and poured out at the wrong time. The busyness of our faith is not always Gods intent. Sometimes busyness can be a vortex of trials painted as service to God. Sometimes his intentions are that we rest in His presence and at His feet. Let us look at two women that knew how to lean into obedience weather that meant to work or rest. Luke 10:38-42 depicts a difference in posture. One breakdown said According to the Gospel of Luke: As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. What is your posture in the presence of the master? Are you looking to be found hard at work? Or are you looking to sit in the moment that could change your life forever. We always reward the worker bee and we consider the ants but what do we say to the woman that longs to rest in the masters hands and just to sit at His feet. What do we say to the woman that wants to simply drink from His cup. Let us consider the worshipper.

img_5794It has been so heartbreaking watching our community get throw all of the Hurricane loss.  The look in the eyes of some of the displaced made it obvious that they lost more then items.  This hurricane took lives, homes, items and dignity. Never in my time here did I think that I would see so many people that needed basic necessities.  The pictures of homes destroyed is just the surface of all that was lost.  Seeing Gods hand move in our community was just the sunrise we needed though as volunteers rushed to homes that had damage in yards, roofs and water damage.  It was a sign that brotherly love still exists in a world that may face deviation.  We drew closer as a boy of Christ and community as the waters flooded and devoured our homes but not our missional hearts.  Often times we forget that God has called us not only to the world but also to our community.  It’s so easy for me to fulfill a mission in another country because I can do what is necessary, build a home put smiles on peoples faces, be kind and pour out without looking for it back. But somehow when we remain local we look for a return. We must remember that Our Nieghbor’s are just as much a part of that work.  During this hurricane I watched how much people wanted to give out and not looking for a return. This is loving one another.  We know the love we have for Christ by the love we have one for another. Both sides can be rewarded in this catastrophe, the one who lost and the one who gave.  When we are not in crisis it can become difficult to determine who has genuine need so our expectations are for people to return what we gave.  We must remember that it is so important for us to have the same heart when there is no crisis as we do when there is none. We don’t get to put a thermostat on someones trouble and say return it.  Our ability to love and pour must be the same each time. Whichever side you fall on God Loves you and God sends us people as extensions of his Grace. God sends us ornaments who are people to extend what we may need.  This hurricane has made one thing clear to me.  I need you just as much as you need me!!!

Perspective

5AB91C3C-A1A2-4330-8AC5-8370D9DE869CLife has a tendency to rain on our parade. Perspective is everything.  Perspective is defined as a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.  What situations in your life do you have a certain perspective about?  There was a time in my life when things did not work out in my favor and the lense which I viewed everything and everyone was viewed from the reference points I suffered.  Now not so much.  I try to view things with fresh reference.  Our reference points don’t necessarily have to be that of a negative light but we can view things from the power of the living God.  Most times we must identify how we are feeling and ask ourselves are we making others feel this way unknowingly.  How we treat others can often times be a reflection of our reference points.  It’s time we removed the stained lenses and see things as Christ sees.  You can do it!  Make those lense adjustments and allow God to give you divine focus so you don’t see and hear things the same. Phillipians 3:13-14 says Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Friends let us forget the things of the past and press towards.  All the reference points, offenses, hurts and wrongs are clouding our perspective in current situations.  It doesn’t help us to see things as Christ does.  So let Go.

The Storms

img_5538I Love storms but not the damage caused because they redefine all that they come in contact with.  It’s the time with Family that I adore.  Our state is in the midst of an incoming storm and It is heading right for us. Many of our friends decided to leave and many stayed.  It takes just as much faith to leave and it does to stay but we must remember to trust God in the process of it all.  My husband and I sat waiting for the reports to come in as to what the Hurricane did and how much more but I remember the Holy Spirit telling me to be anxious for nothing.  In these times we revert to worry over prayer instead of Prayer over worry. It’s human nature.  I am still having some doubts but I know My God delivers us from trouble.  We forget to consider the benefits of a storm and how to look at trying times as opportunities for God to show Himself strong.  This comes from a place of encouragement because I am in the same boat God knows.  It’s hard to see the benefits in the midst for me because I am focused on all that surrounds me.  Storms are the perfect time for us to spend time with Family that we haven’t seen.  Taking these times to make the necessary connections helps us to get through the frustration of the devastation that can come. Hebrews 12:2-4 GNT says let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to the end.  He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the rights side of Gods Thrown.  Our perspective is everything when going through trials.  I am committed to Keep my eyes above the waves and trust that even when it feels like I’m drowning I will yet trust him.  It can mean the difference between quitting and endurance.

Wonderfully Made

img_5314Its about Balance.  We live in a world that promotes physical beauty over spiritual maturity.  Our generation is run by social media and physical attributes are glamorized and prioritized over our soul prosperity.  Though it would be a wonderful thing to have what society labels a perfect figure,  I don’t believe we need to prioritize it over our spiritual health.  I used to be afraid of admitting that I desired a perfect shape.   Almost to a point that I shunned the idea of going to the gym.  I wanted to believe that if I was more attractive that it meant I was less Holy.   Desire for healthier lifestyle with balance is not wrong.  Passions not misplaced are not a bad thing.  After studying the word of God and sharing my passions with a couple of friends I realized that I was looking at this all wrong.   In my studies I believe that God wants to give us a balance in our spiritual health and wellness.  3 John 1:2 says Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.   God desires us to be in sound health and even whole but not only in our spirit man, but our natural man as well.  There is something wrong with us for sure if we have the perfect body with a contaminated unsanitary spirit.  Our ability to wash ourselves in His word is just as important as washing ourselves in the shower.   Our natural man should not look better than our spirit man. The time has come that we see ourselves as the perfect creation that God made and take care of our bodies with His word and with a healthy lifestyle.   There is a moderation that we can reach when we allow Gods word to overtake us.  In His presence we can find peace with all that He wants for us and begin to also work toward the Glorified Body.  For so long we have avoided the very nature of Gods desire for our spiritual and natural man.   God is now calling us to remember Him in our Prayers, thoughts, relationships and our eating habits.  We cannot plead promises over our health and break principals.  Please keep in mind this is not for people who may be experiencing natural occurrences out of their control.  But more for those who struggle to find that balance in health and wholeness.  It is imperative that we identify with God by praising HIM for His creation and acknowledging the power in us taking care of our temple.  Psalms 139:14 says I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.  Knowing this means that I will not avoid my natural man but I will seek God and Make God the priority in my journey and praise Him for making me Fearfully and wonderfully.   I love that the Psalms says, I will praise You then says I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Realize how amazing you are.  This means that I am not afraid to be beautiful but I posses beauty with a humility that Honors God and gives God credit for it.

Let us pray,

Father thank you for your handy work and for your creation of us.  Teach us the balance necessary to take care of ourselves and honor you.  As we get the results in our spirit for all the work we have done help us to also take care of our flesh.  As we continue to seek out help in our health help our hearts to continue to be knitted in you and not forget your ways or your statues.  We honor you for all that you are doing in us.  Give us the balance needed to continue to serve you and prosper in our health in Jesus name.

Amen

Wait

img_5286Life requires waiting no matter what we have to do. Weather it’s waiting on food, lines, transportation, love paycheck. We have to wait. It’s so difficult to wait on the Father for something promised. Our generation has the hardest time waiting for whatever was promised. The Bible says in Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” There is nothing better then the reward we get from waiting. God desires for us to prosper for sure and there is a beauty in waiting. To wait in the Hebrew means to expect or to even look for. Our hope is even connected to our ability to wait. Waiting requires faith. The Bible says that Now faiths the substance of things hoped for. We must understand the value in our hope and how important it is for our hope to be strengthened. Hope is confide or to expect. What is it that you are expecting or hoping for? Is it for something amazing to take place? Or is it for something devastating? Expect Health, wrath and spiritual growth. Expect God to deliver a miracle and watch how blessed you are. Always remember that what you expect is your portion. And remember that God will keep his promises we just have to wait on Him expecting, believing and receiving that HE is a rewarder.

Restoration 🔨

24D80B81-4D7A-4F45-9A47-D1EAC521FE59After a storm or distraction there is always a period of rebuilding.  In most cases it can cost a pretty penny to replace something that was destroyed.  In any situation were a home was needing repair it was easy to repair the small things that needed fixing.  When it comes to the renovation aspect one must consider all of the areas that need to be replaced, refreshed and renewed.  Restore in the Hebrew Definition means to make amends, to prosper, repay, compensate and give restitution for loss and damage.  Often times when we loose a home or something we have possession over we seek to compensate ourselves and rebuild what we lost.   That’s why insurance is so important.  With insurance we pay into this over time and when something goes wrong we can file a claim and allow the insurance to pay for the repair.  This is the same concept with the word.  We develope our relationship with God and his word over time and when something happens we can Go to God and seek Home for what we may need to pray.  God doesn’t want us to foot the bill but he infact desires us to trust His process of restoration.  There are some things that we are holding onto that God is trying to tear down.  It is hard to look at a home landscape that has the worst appearance without wanting to invest in beautifying it.  The urge to fix it is normal.  But sometimes it’s better for the property to allow it to be bulldozed and completely dismantled in order to start over and rebuild.  Just like the storms that come to our communities, some things are better after the wind comes.  The word says “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”  ‭‭Joel‬ ‭2:25‬ ‭ when storms come sometimes God wants us to receive the winds of life and allow things to reset so He can move.   in the scripture it says “my great army that I sent”. This is amazing to me because we often times blame our storms on people when God is trying to work.  It is His resistance that is necessary for growth, renewal and restoration to take place.  Destruction is the seed for restoration.  It is the only time that true restoration can take place.  Restoration means the action of returning something to a former owner, place, or condition.  There are some things we felt we lost out on the God is about to restore.  And guess what? It will be given back Better then before!!!
Be encouraged today and trust God’s process!! 
Restoration is not always a bad thing.  Embrace change in career, love, Family and more!! 

The Waterpot 💧

29EE7F9F-4327-4568-A0EB-88F466C69048In the book of John chapter 2 verse 1-11 begins the season that Jesus started to perform miracles. In this chapter Jesus and His disciples was called to a wedding.  The attendees wanted wine but they had none.  Of course Jesus Mother knew that Her son was capable and she puts a demand on Christ and tells Jesus they had no wine.  I am sure that this embarrassed Jesus to be put in the spot to reveal His powers.  Jesus responded to His Mother by saying in verse 4, “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.” John‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭His mother replies in the next verse by telling them to do what He says.  There is something about this chapter that highlights our enate ability to humble ourselves out of Greatness.  When the doors of opportunity are opened in our lives our first response is to give reasons why we are not able to do what is required.  In Jesus case he said that His hour had not come.  How many opportunities have we avoided because we felt we were not ready or not good enough?  How many times have we convinced ourselves that we did not qualify for a job, friends, or opportunity that could have been beneficial to our growth.  Our children are in High School now but I know that I constantly tell them that it is a bad thing to settle to fit in with people that don’t try to apply themselves.  When we settle for mediocre we are giving ourselves permission to be lazy.  It is so important for us to acknowledge the greatness that is in us and not to allow ourselves to be inbetween by functioning in the mediocrity lane.  Give yourself permission to walk out your moments and never allow yourself to function below all that God created you to be.  In verse 7 Jesus gave instructions to fill the waterpots with water.  The waterpots were significant in that day because it was the place or vessel that contained the family supply.  It was necessary for the containers to be used in miracles because it carried things from either place.  God has called you to be a vessel.  Vessels can be containers and also can be a person into whom a quality such as grace is infused.  We are storages of Gods Goodness.  I believe in this scripture Jesus was the vessel used to bring the miracle to the wedding.  The best part is that Jesus mother over looked his statement about not being ready and she pushed him.  Have you ever been pushed in a moment to do something you felt you were not capable of?  Have you ever had a loved one that saw the greatest in you and did not allow you to talk yourself out of a waterpot moment God wanted you to behold?  Waterpots don’t have significant beauty to them, they may not be appealing but they do have a purpose.  Just because we may not look the part that doesn’t mean we aren’t.  It’s not about parts and appearance as much as it is about purpose.  It is time that we identified our waterpot moments and allow the miracles to flow from our obedience.  Your waterpot can be anything that is used to fulfill a purpose that God intended.  Consider you Life and all the moments that God gives you to fulfill your purpose.  Maximize them with full obedience to the Father.

All Things

img_4629In 1998 I was introduced to Christ and began a journey that would set my heart ablaze for God. I became obsessed with the idea of learning this new subject that would soon land me in the arms of my favorite man on the planet. I remember when we first met and how much I would fret over the slightest thing and there you were reminding me that everything will work out for our good. You taught me everything I needed to know about God and the person and the work of the Holy Spirit. With this new found love for you and for God I embarked upon an amazing journey of learning His word. We went through so many seasons in our lives, this was us, we got married had children I let go of my Military career and joined you on a journey to plant a church in Okinawa Japan. Each time oppression or resistance came you would always say, it will work out. Now 17 years later I have not one regret!! Every situation that we faced had a purpose. God would not allow us to feel slighted. I can remember so many nights I cried because something did not go as I thought it should. Then I read Gods word which says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. I know from experience that struggle will come to our lives but the key is knowing our pain has a purpose. The things we go through and the details we face, we must understand the affliction is our greatest instructor. Embracing this and understanding that we are hard pressed but not destroyed will help us to grow. When trials come to our lives our perspective can be that God wants to teach us.  I am so thankful we serve a God that doesn’t want to put us through meaningless pain.  All that He does has a purpose.  I have learned that some things we go through are simply opportunities to reveal His power and splendor.  God is so majestic that He can take 1 situation I am struggling with and use it to touch thousands of others without me knowing. Psalm 119:71 says “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.” Statues in the Hebrews dictionary translates into so many different things. For one the basic definition of laws or authority. The next definition is timing or appointed time.  This translation speaks loudly to the fact that when we are experiencing trials, we must acknowledge time. Trouble takes time. Trouble allows us to learn and time to process our feelings and process the environment. This is why the word says in James 1:4 to Let patience have her perfect work, that we may be perfect and entire wanting nothing. Perfect means in the Greek means growth in mental and moral character, also mature, entire simply means sound in body. So God wants us to be mature in our mental disposition of our trials. The key is to trust that it may look as though we are loosing but the truth is in the time.  Every situation, conflict, crying baby, family taking extended time to get ready, husband going on deployment, getting changed in your job, everything is working out for your good.  So sit back and enjoy blessings that God has for you!! This is the hour of Mental toughness!! Be encouraged friends, the next Chapter will be worth it!!

Ambassador ♥️

In many countries An Ambassador is an official envoy, especially a high-ranking diplomat who represents a state and is usually accredited to another sovereign state or to an international organization as the resident representative of their own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment according to wikipedia.  It can also be used in representation of businesses or any organization.  The Webster defines it as a diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one sovereign or state to another as its resident representative.  This is a very dangerous job because when people go to a different country as an ambassador serving as a representative, they can translate a message in a wrong way.  This responsibility gives a person the power to speak on behalf of another.  This means that whatever a person does as an ambassador or representative can bring good or bad credit to another, weather intentionally or unintentional.  An ambassador represents and speaks on behalf of a company, business or church.  We never want to be an ambassador for Coke products but not interested in drinking Coke but openly drink Sprite.  The same concept goes for our faith.  As children of God we are representatives of the Gospel.  Our lives must reflect the love, grace and patience of Christ.  In our daily loves what image do we reflect to our loved ones, friends.  It can sometimes be difficult to hold ourselves to Christ standard of love and represent the kingdom well.  I know personally how difficult it can be to serve God but not be able to effectively serve people.  Most times it is our ability to serve and love our brother or sister despite opposition that will dictate and display our true relationship with Christ.  John 13:35 says By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.  Our love walk for one another is the mirror of our relationship with God.  How we effectively represent Christ is in our ability to unequivocally express love to people we see each and every day.  I have in some situations failed at this but understanding that the word is clear when it says in 1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  This is such a tough assignment because it is hard to love people that are hard to like.  My reality is that the world wont come to Christ if they see a group of believers in a constant skirmish, a truculent or contending with one another.  The way that we love one another is what the world sees and how the world will determine if they will be a part of God’s family.  It breaks God’s heart when brothers and sisters don’t get along.  It breaks Gods heart when we treat one another and how we regard thoughts of envy, jealousy and strife in our hearts towards one another. So we must challenge ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to be the final authority on our ability to love, show love and be love.  I am so thankful that Jesus did not love me with a long handle spoon.  My prayer is that God will help me to do the same.  I want to give our bloggers something to consider.  What can we do to secure a believer to Christ by displaying love unconditional towards one another?

Don’t Forget

img_4554Its called self care for a reason.  This week take time to inspire yourselves and go through the steps that will help you to achieve overall wellness.   Self care encourages rest and an adventure to the beach.   Family, Career, Ministry, Life and everything else can be entirely busy.  Interactions with people daily can be draining.  When we see signs that our spirit man is tapping out, make time to do something you love, and make time to study your word.  Always remember that… As you are loving God and loving others, Don’t forget to Love yourself, respect yourself, admire yourself, forgive yourself, accept yourself and nurture yourself!!

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Appraised

Our life was purchased on the cross over 2000 years ago when Jesus gave His life. When you give and appraisal on something you evaluate the worth, significance or status of, or give an expert judgment of the value of the merit of.  When we are purchasing a home one of the most important steps we can take is the step to getting it appraised. This is when a specialist goes on the property and determines the damage to the home. After examining the strengths and weakness of the home the specialist will determine the market value of the home. God appraised us with His blood. His blood never looses power. No matter how much it is damaged it still will value the same. To release the grips of death and the power that sin, transgressions and iniquity have on us. Hebrews 9:28 says that Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.  So in this we know that Jesus was offered up as a ransom which paid the debt of our sins. Once we come to Him, confess and believe we are no longer owned by the weight of our wrong but we are now lifted and seated with Christ. With His blood we are forgiven, set free, spared from Gods wrath and spirituality alive. God is so mindful of us. He sets us as a priority even a little lower then the Angels. Psalms 8: 4-6 says What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet. There is nothing more empowering then to know that His thoughts of us are thoughts that don’t bring us to shame. We don’t always think of ourselves the same way that He thinks of us. He has crowned us with Glory and Honor. This translates to a weighty, beautiful ornament. Our worth and value is not in social status, Friends, career, or materialistic things. According to the word of God it’s not about works either. Our value was determined on the cross over 2000 years ago when Jesus gave his life as a ransom. It was then that the Chastisement of our peace was laid on His shoulder. Let us walk worthy of it and see ourselves as the ornament of grace that God created and sees us as.

Diligence

img_4338How much of our lives do we have committed to prayer, fasting, family or health? Are we willing to be diligent in the areas of our lives that bring us balance? Diligence means steady, earnest, and energetic effort, consistency. Proverbs 10:4 says A slack hand causes poverty but the hand of the diligent makes rich. Our ability to consistently work our passion is the key to unlock the wealth in our life. What areas are we lacking in wealth? It could be financially, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. It is possible to have bankrupt emotional wealth. Our ability to make it a priority to invest in ourselves in these areas can make the difference in our appearance, maturity and our emotional well being. It can be an amazing feeling to be full and lacking nothing. James 1:4 says And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. When we feel ourselves going bankrupt we can unplug and replenish the areas of our lives that have been depleted. Take time to replenish yourself and take care of you whole man. Our diligence should be balanced. We should never over work ourselves in multiple areas but focus on what drives you and be consistent. We all seek to find a healthy balance in our lives and it is so necessary to prioritize. After all it would be hard to manage everything but better to manage an area we are good at, be steady and have great energy for it. Diligence will get us the results but we must be consistent and energetic efforts that come from a rested soul. Start out with waking up early enough to meditate and complete a devotion as you seek God for clarity for your day. Next get a 45 minute workout that you can consistently maintain throughout your week, take care of the children and food, career, homework and dinner. Each day as we adjust and transition from task to task, make it a point to continue to give your best to each area. Try not to duel task though.

Prayers

Father thank you for your wisdom and strength in our lives. I ask that you will give us wisdom as to what you would have us to do. Help us to identify the seasons we need to rest in. Create in us a calmness that cannot be undone in times of stress, busyness and life. Teach us to balance our lives and know when to say no and or turn a plate down. We thank you for the victory that only comes from you in Jesus name,

Salvation

Even in the darkest moments our Father in heaven stands ready to uplift us and deliver us from all that sets us back. Every snare, pitfall, shortcoming, frustration, and situation we face has Gods attention.  Our tears truly matter to God and He came that we may have Life and have it more abundantly.  There is not a day that goes by that God doesn’t Harken to our needs.  With sorrow and pain in our hearts I don’t know what your struggle is today but Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.   When it seems or appears that people are winning or getting ahead, Our God always has the final word.  In Psalms 13:2-5 it says “How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.” Continue to trust in the plan that God reveals to you and take heart that He that began a good work is able to complete it.  img_4318 Have faith that Gods word won’t return void. The only way to have faith is to hear the word of our God. Remember who you are and remember He will never let you down.

Let us pray,   Father thank you for your love, kindness and mercy you show us. Thank you for your grace that you extend to us every day even though we don’t deserve it.  Thank you for sending your son for the expressed purpose that we may live.  Father we are asking you today to intervene on our behalf in the areas we dare not speak of.  Give us assistance in areas we struggle with daily.  Through our trials teach us your ways. Those that seek to nibble on our flesh we turn them over to you and we ask that you continue to humble us.  Continue to pour out your spirit and rain you love on us.  Let not your Holy Spirit be taken from us as we continue in our frustrations, but help us to grow in the midst of it.  Your word says in Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.  So strength us in times of temptations and trials so we don’t destroy our witness. In Jesus name, Amen.

Biblical Community

This is a tough topic to discuss but necessary.  On Sunday our Pastor was talking about the importance of Biblical community at our new member class.  It took me back down memory lane to when I first got saved.  I have been a believer since 1999 and came to Christ without any History or knowledge of what it meant to be a believer. I think as a Christian I became more disappointed because my expectations were so high.  As a babe I can remember the impressions I got from believers that were more mature then me.  I watched the relationships as a saint struggle because there was more passion then there was patience and grace.  I grew a lot since then and understand a component of relationships in the Kingdom of God differently and more clearer.  I have been disappointed and I Have also disappointed some friends so I am not exempt.  In every situation there was something missing and that component is Grace.  Grace is a virtue given by God.  It is unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.  It is something given to us freely from Him.  I don’t deserve Grace but I receive it.  I consider grace as a tree in the midst of a field in the middle of a tornado, that appears to be blowing vigorously and close to being pulled from the roots by the storm but never does.  Sometimes we forget that people need grace.  They need time to get themselves together.  Just like the bus driver that waits for our children in the morning as they run towards it.  Some buses may leave but other buses wait until the children make it. This grace not only gives an extension for us but it over looks our ways towards others.  Biblical community requires tons of grace.  It requires us to consider that we once were in a bad situation and needed time and teaching.  Titus 2:11-13 says For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.  When we extend grace to people and do what we are supposed to do it will eventually teach those we live in biblical community with, the Love and extension of Grace available to us.  If the world doesn’t see what Gods love loves like they will never understand Grace.  It can be challenging at times to love people who turn a deaf ear or continue in their way but I have come to realize everyone is fighting a tough battle and needs to be extended a little more.  There is no reward in loving who already loves us but the reward is in continuing to love who doesn’t love us.  As a child of God let’s be found in love without dissemination. If it is not received we should kick the dust off of our feet. Matthew 10:14 says If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.  The reward of loving people is valuable.  Living in biblical community can be very messy and I have seen situations come out for the good of God as well as come out bad. Even in the hardest moments We should want to be found doing what Gods word says in Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully  use you, and persecute you.  Knowing how powerful grace is and how it is Devine assistant given for regeneration and sanctification, it should be important for us to give grace to others no matter how difficult it is.  I always try to remember that I cannot continue in my way forever.  There comes a point of resolution that we all need in certain phases and we must understand that Romans 6:1 says What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?  Let’s continue to walk in Gods love and don’t waver when it comes to loving and giving grace to others we see each day!!

Let us Pray,

Heavenly Father we seek your assistance today. We ask that you send your precious spirit to help us be the catalyst for growth and change. Equip and strengthen us to love a dying world that may be hurting or in a bad situation. Help us and equip us to continue on the path of righteousness in-spite of our daily encounters. Teach us how to live your children the way you want us to. Help us to possess forgiving hearts and help us to be tender hearted forgiving one another just as Christ Forgave and loved the church. Give us grace for grace and strengthen us to pour our your love from a pure heart. We thank you for the victory in our lives and in our biblical community. We come to you and Thank you for the wisdom to continue to grow in grace and in love. I’m Jesus Name amen.

Speak Freely

img_0041Confidence is a beautiful thing when we find it!! In our everyday lives we are often given opportunities to love on and serve one another.  Loving and serving can be quite tough when we are in an inured or Herculean season of life.  During these times our confidence may not be as strong but our confessions must remain imperturbable. Certain seasons require a consistent confession of Gods word. Our declaration and confession of His word helps us as believers to grow in our faith.  There is so much power in speaking negatively over your God given abilities and over ourselves. We must not put a cap on ourselves by limiting Gods ability to move in and through us.  I believe that in our lives our faith will stand trial.  In these seasons of tribulation it is the faith or as the Bible translates in Hebrews 11, Now Faith or persuasion, moral conviction, or having assurance.  We need to have faith in many areas especially in the areas that concern our own personal abilities.  God made us into speaking beings.  I would often times declare over myself why I was not qualified for something.  It was hard for me and at times is still is difficult for me to walk in confidence.  Often times I would persuade myself that I was not worthy of or beautiful enough.  That is not how God sees us neither is it how He declares over us.  The things that we project can be rooted in confidence or in fear.  What I have come to realize is that as Gods creation, me projecting the Fathers love for me gives me a sense of confidence not in my own ability but in His ability to usher me to do things I am supposed to.  This is why faith is so important.  What we believe about ourselves and what we portray are intermingled.  I loved the fact that God helped me to own the insecurities I faced and get over them.  I am able to confidently make certain declarations over myself and my life that now line up with Gods opinion of me.  The Bible says in Psalms 34:1-4 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.  I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
It is so important reality that we understand our responsibility to seek the Lord. When we can seek the Lord and cry out to Him, He will hear our fears and deliver us.  This verse also says that His praise will continually be in our mouths.  My favorite part in this is Continually which is defined in the Hebrew term as continual employment. His word is clear friends that God desires continual employment or work of our praise. As committed we are at our jobs is how committed He wants us to declare His word. As we begin to bless the Lord and continue to keep our words over ourselves positive, we will experience growth and encouragement. One thing that’s for sure is sharing our fears with friends is wonderful but our friends cannot deliver us the way God can.  We can see that in this God wants our blessings, continual praise, our bragging on Him, our magnification of Him and our Fears. This scripture was clear when it gave us more blessings and praises that God wants then he does our fears. I believe that even though God will hear our fears He loves and adores our praises. The more that we can magnify God the less we need to worry about ourselves and walk around insecure. Our fears can over take us and often times get worse if we are not willing to cast our cares to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast your cares upon the Lord for He cares for you. To cast in the Greek means to throw upon or “to throw,” with various degrees of violence; usually, with force. God does not desire for us to be heavy and overwhelmed with doubt and hopelessness. He does not desire us to walk around as insecure children.  We are created as speaking being so we must speak freely or as if we are free in Him.  Let us begin to make those positive confessions over our lives and over ourselves. This can be done but continuing to lift up the name of Jesus. The more we can learn of Him, the more we can understand ourselves the way He wants us to.

The Process

img_4182In our lives we have been through so much. I am sure that our paths have taken rough turns. Through these turns I want to ask how many of us have actually trusted God in the process. Have we had the “Now Faith” present for what we hope? What it means to trust Him in the process is that we lay our plans down in the midst of Him working. Choosing to provide God with assistance is just like telling Him we don’t trust Him to map out the plans concerning our lives. I have done this so many times. However when we lay it down I don’t mean do nothing. We must understand the principle of faith being dead without works. There are of course some things that we must do on our part in order for Gods plan to be complete. We can’t say that we trust God for spiritual growth and never pick up our word. The process for some could be a small act of obedience to pray for a fellow believer. When we avoid it, it makes things difficult for us. Processes can be complicated especially when we don’t understand what the expectations will be. I like to look at house plants. They won’t grow when they are not watered. There is a process to everything in our lives. Process requires submission from the believer. Not submitting to a specific process often times holds our growth back. The Bible says in Revelation 3:7 that God has the power and the key to open doors that no man can shut and the power to shut doors no man can open. What areas in your life have you decided not to submit to a specific process? How has it effected your growth? There is a saying I heard from a mentor that said, “What you don’t defeat, you are destined to repeat”.  I can’t imagine having to start over in a friendship, encounter, situation etc because I refused to walk in humility and let God have His way. We often struggle with some things because Looking at the details We want our way. You are not alone. How often we miss the heartbeat of our father when we act less then a Kings kid. Honoring Gods process means that we allow His will to be done, choosing God every time we say yes to Him. Even when it’s down to the tiniest details in life, the things we don’t think people see are the places it really matters. Some examples, how we treat our spouse, children, friends, strangers and family, it all matters. What I want people to glean from this is that life is about process.  God desires to grow us up in him. We don’t have to do this journey alone though. We can find friends that value your struggles and won’t betray your trust. There are women that you can go through difficult seasons with, with grace and style. They will be there with you watching God take you through the growth process and cheer you on, in some cases challenge you. Will you be willing to stand in the midst of the adversity and pressure and allow God to mature and groom your life? He does this by using time just like any other Element and living thing. He uses time with people, places and situations. God changes Caterpillars into butterflies, sand into pearls, and coals into diamonds, all using time and pressure and he is working on you too!! Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time

Gratitude

It would be amazing to win a multi-million dollar lottery. I can only imagine all the Louis Vuitton luggage and all of my favorite clothes and outfits. All of the money in the world coupled with traveling, cars and such can be prodigious and astounding for us as children of God. But it won’t compare to all of the wonderful things God has for us in eternity. Often times as a mom I pour out to my children things their hearts desire and more times then not I notice their ungratefulness towards my gift. Often times I feel as though what I endow my children with, lavishing them with things that I want them to have, is not apprised or esteemed. What I remember as a child is throwing myself towards my parents expressing the gratitude in my heart for what they do. Or at least that was how I remember. Gratitude is an attitude. Gratitude means expressed thankfulness for a deed. The Bible defines this as Thanksgiving which means an extension of the hand or adoration. To adore means to honor or worship.
It’s not enough to just possess materialistic things. The reality is that for some our true identity will manifest when Our assets proliferate. I do my very best to maintain humility in the midst of being aggrandized.
Be Grateful
A group from our church had an amazing opportunity to go on a mission trip to Honduras. God was evident in every detail of our trip. The ostensible purpose for this trip was to build a house for a family who did not have a home. The village we went to was full of homes built from solid concrete and brick cement small yet enough room to serve the purpose of needs. Even though these communities and families lived under impecunious circumstances with some families living indignant lives, they possessed a since of jubilance and contentedness. Their response to our willingness to assist them in this home was nothing short of indebtedness to God and his help. I remembered having trouble holding my tears back as he spoke to us in his language. The translator was speaking with such passion and the area we stood felt still. I could feel God pushing us closer to celebration for our brother as he adored God and us. One thing that I learned on this trip is that gratitude is contagious. When someone expresses gratitude for another it changes the fragrance of the relationship. Most times we don’t realize how powerful gratitude is. Learning to express gratitude is fuel to a persons life. 2 Thessalonians 1:3 says We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. When our love for our brothers and sisters increases it is necessary for us to identify how important our affirmation is towards one another. It would be difficult for us to love without communication. In this scripture the apostle Paul was commending the church for their perseverance in the midst of persecution. He expressed gratitude for their maturity as well as growth. This is a great way to create moments of gratitude. Identifying growth in another persons life is a gift that helps people to continue to press in the path that they may be on.  Two of the most powerful words we can say can be so easy, yet we make it so difficult.  Our calling lies in the most precious moments we could have with other people.. Practicing showing gratitude is like a glass of lemonade.  Only you know who you can  give those moments to!!
The young family in the foreign country as well as the Apostle Paul where two examples that expressed gratitude. Let us continue to seek the moments like Paul did to affirm and build one another. When we can show gratitude effortlessly we will reap the abundance of others pouring out on us as well. Gratitude is the seed for more!!

Prayer
Father you said in your word that we are chosen and royal priests. Help us to stand in our boldness and help us to continue to press into love for one another. I pray that you will continue to watch over us as we continue in your ways and your word. Build us up and teach us your ways, help us to operate with grateful hearts. Usher us to a place of joy and gratitude for all that you are doing.  Instill in us a since of contentedness and settle us in our spirits.  Show us how to express gratitude and appreciation for your kingdom and your children.  Help us to continue to extend grace to one another. In Jesus Name…

Esteem

I love the ministry of helps, Just being able to provide assistance to a fellow believer is rewarding.  Not only helping a person physically, but helping spiritually as well. Helping is all about perspective. If we can shift our perspective we can see the beauty in helping. Our mindset also determines if we can help or be helpful without negative perspective.   When I look at my life personally I can have a negative outlook to some situations.  At times I believe it is my quondam life and upbringing that escorted my thought pattern to think this way.  Many of us can be considered pessimistic in our approach to life. We can live our lives contending, and competing with gratuitous thoughts that oppose the very thought patters of God. It is worse when we are rejected in any case, we feel as though we have failed.  I know this all to well in my own life.  I often had a since that i lacked the dulcet presence to fit in.  We can become so enthralled with these thoughts and so captivated with the idea of being unwanted that it becomes our identity.  2 Corinthian 10:5 says Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.  When we cast something down it means in Greek that we “Lower it with violence, demolish, or put it down.”  We must be aggressive at guarding our thoughts, especially the ones about ourselves.  What are we to cast down?  Those imaginations which are the computations, reasoning or conscious conceit.  The truth is, we all experiences rejection at some time in our lives. It is so hard to find the peace within that helps us to resolve the discomfort we face.

In order to combat the inner peace we must recognize and embrace what we are called to do.  Knowing who we are is half the battle in our every day struggles.  If we can identify our identity we can endure tough seasons with confidence because our fight and struggle has a purpose.  Also another way would be to focus on what God has already done for us.  Don’t focus on the past failures but focus on the things that you have succeeded in and had great success.  It is not wise to wallow in your failures.

Being confident enables us to walk in obedience without worry or fear of failure because God already did what He needed to on the cross. We must not allow the enemy to push us into a place of self pity. Self-pity enables wrong thinking. We often times forget that we are not the only ones who fight against worry and issues. I was always thinking negatively about myself and situations that I may have faced because that is what I was used to do most of the time. Now that my relationship with God has changed My thoughts are very different. I aim to pattern my thoughts so that they bring Glory to God. Negative thinking sends God a signal that we don’t trust Him to do it and that we are better at planning then he is. We allow the enemy to criticize, Dispraise or censure all that we do. Lets stand in our power friends.  We are talking God out of the equitation. We must avoid seeing ourselves and our situation through the screens and lenses of the world. Doing this will help us maintain a healthy posture so that we can contribute to the lives of others. Why is this important? Glad you asked, some time ago I had a difficult time telling others how valuable they were because I didn’t know how valuable I was. Now that I have a clearer vision of who I am I can compliment, build up, encouragement and uplift others and help others understand their value. Sometimes when we can hear others say good job it makes us press into our purpose. God gave us all gifts and when we are empowered we can empower others!! Philippians 2:3 Talks about Esteeming others.  This means we are to consider, think of others higher or to leader others higher then our self.  Esteem simply is worth, value, opinion or judgement.  I won’t be good at esteeming others when I have low self esteem or self worth.  Though we need advancement I think we should not forget to help others to get ahead as well.  In many cases if we are all walking around insecure how can anyone advance except to become as crabs pulling down who has the slightest hint of advancement.  Let us not reduce our value wallowing around in insecurities that will eventually dissolve but let us become esteemer’s of one another. We are so much more then that, we don’t deserve to reduce our value.  Let us exercise our gift of helps.  I would like to leave you with a thought.  “There is so much strength that can be had among sisters.  We can either tear each other down or build each other up and I think when we decide to build each other up we are unstoppable.” Janet Nelson.

Philippians 2:3-5 3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

In most cases Christians are not arware that speaking in tongues is also practiced in other non-christian religions. this is a gift from God that empowers us to do what we are called to do.  Something important to understand about the precious Holy Spirit is in John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself;. In this we have an understanding of God’s untainted love for us and that He is in fact connected to the very existence of our identity.  He leaves us with the true message that our sins can be forgiven through the love an the blood of Christ.  we must remember in all of this that it is grace that teaches and saves us.  Our salvation puts us in right standing with God for our entrance into eternity and is the inauguration To our relationship with the Holy Spirit.  With this New love we know the necessity of keeping commands and obedience, just as Jesus also taught in John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.  Lastly our New love and relationship empowers us as believers to the fulfillment of our gift and calling.  What do you as a beiliever have in your life that you are passionate about?  What gift do you use without even thinking of it?  Why aren’t you using this gift? Could it be that you have not connected to your source? Trust today in the filling and the presence of His precious Spirit.  There are pleasures ever more and in His presence there is fullness of joy.  Could you imagine experiencing so much joy that you have to cry to express it?  Or even so much peace?  That is what the spirit does He comes to lead us into all truth about life, about who we are, and next steps.  Missing out on this alliance, link or connection is like eating without the habit of water. Yes just like that.

The way forward, Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will lead us, and habilitate everything about who we are so that we can be strengthened to fulfill our authenticity and identity.

Fervent

apartment-bed-carpet-269141There are so many areas of our lives that need a push. I can remember getting up early in the morning and pondering on all other the wonderful things I had to accomplished for the day. The dishes, the laundry, the dirty diapers, the homework for me and the daycare art homework for the two love bugs. After 2 minutes of thought, I laid back down and buried myself back under the covers. I know God’s plan for my life and His plan for us to teach the younger women but I was tired from all else. Now I am not in the season of pampers but I sure do remember how God grew me up to be a fervent mom, wife and women. Fervent means-to be hot (boil of liquids; or glow of solids) to be fervent. It also means very hot, exhibiting or marked by great intensity of feeling.  Zealous fervent prayers are an important part of our Christian DNA.

We are called to the ministry of fervency, intensity of biblical community and Relationships with God and others.  When we go out into the world we should want to look more like Him. Our affection and love towards one another should be filled with grace and passion.  Often times we struggle with fervent behavior because of several reasons. I will list 3

1. Scared- “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

• Fear- Timidity- lacking in courage or self-confidence a timid person, lacking in boldness or determination

2. Confused- “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.” Proverbs 4:7-8 KJV

• Most times we don’t like to ask questions. We need to seek clarity

3. Lazy- Romans 12:11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord., “So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16 ESV

Webster defines Zeal as great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause.  Strong’s defines it as Fervent minded.

We must not be half-hearted or tepid in our approach to our calling. If we find ourselves tired like I was in the early years of my mommy hood,  It can be tough to get on track but there is hope in rest.  Rest will give us the necessary downtime to refuel and replenish our lives.

Closing
God doesn’t desire tepid saints, just like we don’t like lukewarm coffee or water.  Think on this. How often our children give us lukewarm help.  How do you feel? 
Be encouraged and take hope that God will bless your fervent prayers. He will give you the desires of your heart as you seek Him with a fervent, zesty heart.

My Comforter

bed-blanket-female-450056One winter I remember being outside with our children who insisted on playing in the snow.  My son began to shake and looked for his jacket which was in the house.  After playing he was still cold and wanted to warm up so we bathed him and gave him some warm milk.  This did not help so he asked for his blanket.  Of course we gave it to him and he was relieved. Just like my son through trials and tribulations we all need a comforter to help us through our turmoil.  The Bible says in John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. The key here is that we will never know the comforter and what we can do unless we are in need.  The Hebrew word for comforter means paraklitos which means along side us, or side kick.  The only way that we can identify with the purpose, person and the work is to be in trouble.  We will never know the comforter outside slight discomfort.  We will see another definition is “Alos Pariklitis” which is the root word from Alovera which means to sooth.  I am grateful to the work of the Holy Spirit which comforts my every ailment and my every hurt.  He comforted my son years ago when he was cold.  It is so wonderful to have a friend in Him. There is a friend that knows you better then you know yourself, won’t judge you for your short comings, won’t tell your business, won’t misunderstand you and won’t lie on you… The Holy Spirit… Your friend… Your Comfort… Your helper.

 

The Grace of God

Good Morning Sunshine!! Never take for granted the grace that God has granted us as His children.  It is the un-merited favor that is granted from a higher deity to a mortal undeserving.  The bible says in Titus  2:11-12 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live sensibly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.  God wants us to deny ungodly desires.  When we say that God gives us Grace and mercy then what we mean is that the grace is what we need to teach us and mercy is what we need to help us should we fall.  The bible says in Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Grace doesn’t mean that each time we fall short it is there for us, that is what Christ does.  Grace is not for continued transgression that is why we need a Christ to defend us…The bible says in 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous….It is the grace of God that we need for salvation which teaches us to deny the worldly desire. Always remember to appreciate Gods grace and thank him for the Mercy that he extends when He could execute judgment anytime He pleases.   Have a wonderful day Sunshine!!!

 

Working Through Distractions

Good Morning Sunshine!! Remember not to allow anyone or anything to distract you from reaching your fullest potential. If you quit now you will never know how the story will end. Distractions should be used to your advantage… They should make you finish with greater determination. Don’t worry about rejection but surround yourself with people that know how to hold you accountable and know how to celebrate with you as well. Stay away from Sanballets “Secret Enemies”. Those are the worst ones. They come around as you are building only to criticize your every brick and every point of growth. Those individuals will tear you down piece by piece and eventually discourage you from finishing what you started. Do yourself a favor and remember that people are counting on you to stay focused. God wants us to become disciplined… True discipleship is true Discipline. Keep on building!!! Nehemiah 6:3 I WILL NOT COME DOWN. Have a wonderful day Sunshine!!!

 

What are you Thinking?

Good Morning Sunshine!!  This is the day in which you rise up not just from your bed but from the very pit that you are in.  Shake off the cobwebs of your life and live today.  There is soo much that God has in store for your life and ministry.  Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinks in his heart so is He.  Your future and who you are now is created by how you think.  It is a reality that our thinking must be elevated with Christ.    Ephesian 4:23 That you put off concerning the former way of life the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.  If we still have the old mind our walk will stay the same.  There are some former things that we must rid ourselves of in order to be effective.  We can work through any distraction or Hinderance when we think we can.  As much energy as we put into the impossible should be counter by putting energy into what we can do.  Our accomplishments will only go where our thoughts let us.  It always starts with what we see.  As humans we have the ability to see things and respond from sight.  That is why the bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 We Walk By Faith, Not By Sight.  Another translation says we “Live” by it.  Our lives should line up with faith.  that is how the just live.  Without faith it is impossible to please God. Believe God and believe in your ability to do it through Him.  Change your thoughts Change your Path.  Have a wonderful day Sunshine!!!

 

The Importance of His Presence

Good Morning Sunshine!!  There is no better cure then the cure of the presence of God.  When God’s hand is upon our life there is no better peace that may fall on us.  In His presence there is fullness of Joy.  With all of life’s distractions, issues and chaos we should seek Him daily.  Staying in His presence will keep us sound and secure. His Joy my strength.  All my cares and fears are released in seeking His face and Seeking His presence.  Jesus died that I may have life and have it more abundantly.  There is nothing I want more then to bath in the presence of My God. Psalms 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.  Staying in the presence of God will keep us out of the carnality of the world.  It will also keep us from life’s constant frustration.  I need His Presence… How bout you?? The Whole Armor of God

There is nothing worse or more dangerous then Going into battle without your armor.  There are some things that we require when encountering a ruthless enemy.  Protective head gear, flack jacket, alice pack, rifle, canteen and chow.  These items are required because they keep us alive and fed.  Without these items we run the risk of having a difficult time in battle.  Likewise in the spiritual realm we also require a type of protective gear that the word defines as the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Put your armor on!!! His Wonderful Touch

Good Morning Sunshine!! What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.  O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!  Gods hand on us even causes the angels to question why we are soo important.  We are the only species that God actually laid His hands on to create.  God desires that we His creation walk in dominion on the earth.  He gave us dominion over the beast of the field and the fowl of the air so we shouldn’t walk in fear because of the power that was given us by Him.  We are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image and not that of the world!!!   Beautiful is his creation, He is glorious in every way!!! Forgiving Ourselves

Good morning Sunshine!  Even though God tells us to forgive one-another, we ought to also learn to forgive ourselves.  Forgiving ourselves is hard at time because we often equate  what is being said to what we did.  There are other situations that are similar to ours but we may not see this.  The truth is that other people may need to be delivered and can’t simply because we are stuck and don’t want to here about it.  See yourself free and stop holding your own-self back… The best person to forgive is yourself…. When everyone else tries to move on we can’t.  Forgive yourself today and live.  Stop fighting yourself.. Be at peace today and rest your heart.
